As often happens when starting up a company, we've run into some complications that have forced us to postpone our launch date until the end of the year.
We regret any inconvenience this might have for you but we urge you to stay in contact in case any questions or concerns arise.
Our staff is currently working hard on tying loose ends so we can launch our platform. We always welcome new designs / designers to join in.
Designs to change the world
We are looking for unmanufactured designs to compliment our sustainable production cycle. We have opened this blog in an effort to keep you, the designers, up to speed on the progress concerning the initiative. If any questions arise, feel free to contact us!

Project description
A new design production cycle will launch in the end of year 2010 to help young ideological designers launch their homeware product designs in a new visionary global design platform.
In order to make it happen, we need to connect with the greatest talent in the world.
The new initiative is started by a global-reaching design brand from Europe and a big name in the design world based in North America (the names can be revealed after further dialogue). The Danish design consultancy Social Action ApS has been commissioned to administer the upbringing of the initiative.
The purpose of this initiative is to make it easier for design talents with great ideas to access the global product design market.
The initiative will subsequently give designers a possibility to make positive change in the world. Focusing on sustainability, the design production created by this initiative will help improve the local areas of design production in tangible ways. Already the initiative has identified several sustainable projects in India, South America and parts of Asia. In the end, designs that are produced through the initiative will leave the environment and social life healthier and more sustainable than before the product was made. This radical approach is realized through innovative design thinking, systemized in the initiative’s design product cycle.
The proposed design concepts will be accessible in an open, sophisticated community based website. Here, a global design audience can invest in and buy products before they are made, thus deciding which products will make it into the top design retail shops of the world. The website further allows the audience to connect with designers and production methods in an unprecedented way.

Do the designs have to be sustainable?

What do I need to present on august 6th? Can I present more than one project?
What we need from you is pictures of you product and a description of it. The pictures should be from different angles or at least present your product in the best way possible.
You are more than welcome to introduce other designs you may have. The only premise is that they are not already in production.

How will products be commercialized?
The products will be accessible through an open, community based website that will be launched on October 1st. Here, a global design audience can invest in and buy products before they are made, thus deciding which products will make it into the top design retail shops in the world. The website further allows the audience to connect with designers and production methods in an unprecedented way.
Where will the designs be produced?
We have experience form several production sites, depending on different materials and techniques needed for the production, but most of the production will take place in Jaipur in India. This is because we have good connection in with local craftsmen and the city is renowned for it’s craftsmanship.
What are the royalties if my design is produced?
The designer/s will receive 5% royalties for each design that will be produced.
After a product has sold enough shares and goes into production, a contract will be signed with the designer and his royalties secured.

What are the expected outcome and submission details?
If your design will be amongst those chosen to continue with other designs on the 6th of august, you will have to hand in a 3D model before the first of september along with further information (detailed information about that will follow later). This will be put on our website and customers given the oppurtunity to invest in your product. If enough customers invest, your product will go into production.
How long is the design project expected to take for each of the students? (For design schools)
This is an ongoing project and the students have an opportunity to present designs and ideas to the initiative in the future as well as now. But as mentioned, the first launch of designs is in September/October 2010 so we need to collect and choose designs before the 6th of August 2010. On the 1st of September 2010 we need the final material for the website in order to prepare for the launch on the 1st of October.
Is it possible to map it along with our academic schedule? (For design schools)
Yes, this would be very interesting and maybe this first launch could be an introduction so that you will get a better idea of what the initiative is all about.
How many students and faculties are expected to be part of this initiative? (For design schools)
For the first launch of designs and products we need as many designs as possible to choose from and it is difficult at this point to determine how many designs will be picked out, but we hope to find approximately a 100 designs.
The initiative is ongoing and new designs will be revealed every month, so we need new designs and products in the future as well.
